Since peple say that something on the ship cause either one of the crew mates, or someone involved in its transportation, to mutate into one of the three monsters, I think that following this theory means that the brute might be someone that is only partially mutated, a monster that is not completly made just yet. What if Monstrum released a sequel, or an update, in which we could see a brute that is comletly mutated. (Possibly the monster(s) hunt you back to the shore after your daring escape?)

My theory is that the specimens captured from the spawning ground possibly couldn't have been a jellyfish at all, but in fact a parasitic lifeform. The reason it was on the ship to be transferred to America was to bring it to a place with scientists of high renown. Namely, America. That being said what might have happened that was not mentioned is the release could have been deliberate, what if a crew member had planned a mutiny and intended to blow up the cargo, but was unaware of the contents of container 106? The ship was in relative disorder before the parasite was released, so this is very plausible. On top of this, the parasites would mutate their host based on the environment they were exposed to, so an unknown female crew member (We will call her Hannah McHunter for now) was potentially performing external repairs to the cargo hold after the detonation of the explosives, the diving suit she was working in was in fact, contaminated. As time passed she began to mutate into the Hunter. Another unknown male scientist whom was experimenting with samples from the spawning ground accidentally released a sample used for testing. This caused him to become the Fiend due to the high IQ of this scientist. The brute, however, became what he is today due to a parasite infecting him in the explosion, this crew member was the person who planned the mutiny. I believe this parasite theory is plausible, but it has more holes than a planet made out of swiss cheese.

As the compund is only BASED on turritopsis dohrnii, it May Not really be Or make humans immortal but seems to be intented to give regenerative abilities, and will Or will not do that.
On the First subject mentioned, it resulted in the regeneration of scar tissue and muscle growth yet, also in high aggression and low brain activity. This seems to fit the brute pretty much, doesnt it? The muscle growth results in its immense strenght and the aggresion fits its berserker-like behaviour. The low brain activity explains its "low intelligence".
Yet as the test compound is, as the name implies, just a test and thus contains flaws, which could explain why the brute's left arm is more human.
Also, according to the "scar tissue" mentioned in the note, the test subjects must have been either dead, and thus, revive by the compound, Or severely hurt, for example by a third degree burn, inflicted by hot steam from a shower.
So, looking at the facts, it is Safe to assume, that the brute is the first test subject, and maybe could be Wilson Or Chekov, who got burned by a hot steam shower and thus had scar tissue.
But now comes the question, which monster the other subject could be, if it Even is one, Right?
So, according to note 17, its scar tissue and nerve damals has not been healed and muscle growth has not been detected, thus implying "low strenght" and "constant Pain". But higher Brain-activity had been found to be over predetermined scales, so it must have been smarter than a human.
Sounds like the Fiend, doesnt It? The Fiend is very intelligent, and also seems to he able to use its mind als an weapon, using telekinetic powers, thus outwheiging its low strenght, which is implied by its body. No deformities, caused by faulty regeneration, just regenerated brain cells and maybe Even new ones, which probadly did increase the brain's size and thus, also the skull's. This might explain its interestingly shaped skull. And, its skin does look kinda burnt and severely injured, as scar tissue did not heal, only small and light damages.
However, i still cannot explain the purple colored eyes, sorry. But it might have something to do with the brain growth. Who knows?
Also its "EMP Effect" (it turning off electric utilities, When it it nearby) is also a thing i Cant explain, yet. But it probadly has to do with the high Brain activity.
Anyways, i guess its safe to assume, that the Fiend is test subject number 2 and thus, maybe wilson or chekov, and the Brute test subject 1 and thus,maybe the other one.
But don't forget, its just a theory, a MONSTRUM theory!

I think I found a clue of who is the Brute. It obviously Brett. Let me explain, Brett was going to the boiler room to repear it, but then I though about it. What if the buring smell comming for this room that Fred told in note 5 wasn't the brute. But was in fact one of the jellyfish that escape. Now you may be wondering, why are talking about these thing, when you are explaining the origin of the brute. Well because it not only answer this question but other ones that are important. First of all the container that contained the specimens couldn't have been the monster because if the container look like it exploded. it could have killed the other one. But simple jelly fish couldn't have done that either. Until I was intriged by the idea, that they could be parasites instead ( this original theory was given by fandom user 2602:301:77E2:5080:B5E8:1525:BB78:73C7, thank you very much for your contribution). So I think that the specimens are host of these parasite that are actally the jellyfishs. First of all. Jellyfish possess some bioloiogical symbiosis whit fish. It could be possible that they introduce inside a host, a geneticaly modified jellyfish. When I searched the internet, I found many underwater lifeform whit incredible power, for exemple, the pisto shrimp which can creat bubble whit a tempature similar to the surface of the sun. Or the mantis shrimp, which as the abilit to shater glass whit a spimple punch. Or some other one which can creat acid. I think that the jellyfish caused so much presure. Because of the air that got inside the container. Which caused to exploded. The surving host of this incident escape. But the jellyfish killed their old host to find new ones, humans. In note 9 they say that a hole melted inward in the boiler. Meaning that something got inside of it . think the jellyfish melted a hole inside of it so could rest or create an opportunity or traps for a host. Brett tools were found covered in black soot. I think he got infected will he was repearing. which would explain the reason why they still smell something burning.

It seems that Wilson was actually lying when he said that he got scaled in the notes. Because he said that Chekov was repearing the shower in audio log 3. And in audio log 5 and 6 it seems to suggest that Wilson was actually attacked by the fiend. But when try to get help. Mr. Kobayashi who forced him to lie to his crewmates and doctor. Something similar must have happen to Chekov. This could explain why they say that they were burned by the shower and why they were at the boiler room, even if they were supposedly scaled by the shower.

my idea is the same but the crew memeber who went to investigate the cargo and found the broken container could have been infected by it and became the hunter that would explain why he is half jellyfish half human with a human skeleton and jellyfish like gel "skin"

The mutation theory could be true or the monsters are a animal enity mutated from toxic waste that got different powers that changed the body and brain after eating the or drinking the toxic.
